Traffic tips
The lifeblood of your site is traffic. Without it, your site might as well not exist.
Here are three starters to improve your traffic:
- Traffic analysis
- Keyword refining
- Adverts

Traffic analysis
To start off with, we need to be able to analyse the traffic. This will allow us to see if we are actually getting any traffic, measure improvements and see which pages people are visiting. For this we would use Google Analytics. It's very quick and easy to set up and there's a Drupal module available that simplifies the process.

Keyword refining
This is actually pretty simple. You need to decide what keywords you want to appear under when people perform a search. Then once you've got a list, you need to write the copy on your pages with those keywords appearing several times.Google (and other search engines) rank single pages, NOT websites. What this means is that you can have one page on your site that ranks well for: "medical herbalist hertfordshire" (e.g. The About Page) and you could have another that ranks well for: "arthritis herbal medicine" (e.g. An Information Page).
So check your copy and then set up the keywords for each individual page using the Meta module.

Adverts
If your profession is very specific, it makes it ideal for Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising. This means that most traffic you get as a result of PPC ads should be highly qualified - leads are unlikely to click on your ad (and therefore charge you) unless they are specifically looking for your niche. You only need to spend about £20-30 to see if this works for you and you will get good feedback after even just £5.For this you would use Google Adwords.
